20-year-old Canadian striker Marcus Haber is currently spending four days training with Albion.
Haber is 6' 3" tall and currently plays for Vancouver Whitecaps, for whom he's scored 8 goals in 30 League appearances. He has also played 21 times for Canada Under-20s, and three times for the Under-23s.
Before you get too excited, he's already had trials with Leeds United, Hartlepool United and Barnet - none of whom saw fit to offer him a contract. He's also spent two seasons with FC Groningen of the Dutch Eredivisie.
Joe Mattock's injury, sustained against Bristol City on Saturday (when he was stretchered off after half an hour) is not as serious as first thought. There is no fracture and he just has a bruised foot.
Albion's official website says that he will be assessed in the build-up to Saturday's game against Sheffield Wednesday - but gives no hint as to whether or not he's expected to play.
Newcastle win 1-0 at Preston to go back to the top of the Championship table, sending Albion back to second.
